So I like flag antennas, the full size kind that work very good for DX
reception under the right conditions. Noise hunting is an entirely different
animal usually requiring an entire toolbox of equipment unless you get lucky
(which never has happened for me!).

The first time I met with Stew he had his 160 DXCC application in ARRL hands
for quite a while and they would not issue the certificate or tell him whether
they would or not.
His position was in effect, I guess I have some enemies there. He was quite a
gentleman about the whole thing again
The problem for the climate wizzkids is that the Maruder minimum correlates
exactly to theamount of glacial ice in the northern hemisphere, thus if true,
they are going to have to paintthe glaciers black to make their predictions
will be correct.

It would seem political. If we get a Maunder minimum, most likely theclimate
will cool thus the "sky is falling" climate people will have a hard time.

The best way to isolate the TX antenna for receiving is to have it float above
ground. The worst means is grounding the antenna. The grounded antenna will
re-radiate any noise it captures rendering your RX antenna useless. It only
takes a few PF to ground to make a TX antenna your principal
above ground. ground rods at
each end, etc.
Any thoughts on the problem and a cure?

Looking for 160m narrow beam RX advice (Lloyd Berg - N9LB)
I had a similar situation about 15 years ago with my next door neighbor who
had something in his house that was giving me S9 raspy noise 24x7. I could not
find the source in his house but I suspected his doorbell transformer that was
plagued me for at least 5 years, then one day it was gone.
I used an MFJ noise cancelling phaser for those years and without it, I would
have been off of the air.
Good luck finding the source!

I use an old IC-202 (2m battery powered ssb/cw transceiver). It has a whip
antenna and provides a very directive null off of the tip of the whip.

I've given up with the league. My experience has been that the advisory
boards have virtually no influence on decisions that are made about contests or
anything for that matter. That's why I stopped contributing to this private
club.

consider the same upgrade to their hamshack computer. My computer with
the old fashion Hitachi hard drive contributes zero noise to my receiving
capability on any band so SSD's are not in my future!
