Does anyone know the active element or have a schematic for the ICE 135B preamp
? I really like this preamp and bought it years ago (for about 50 bucks). It is
no longer working and suspect the FET (?) is blown.

Hello James!
I see you have a 500 foot bog, I need some advice.
I put down a 200 foot BOG for 80m & 160m. Seems to work well on 80 but
virtually no directionality on 160m. I was told that performance would d
K5P was very loud last night and I had just thrown a 500' BOG down yesterday
afternoon. Craig K9CT was at the key. I'm in NW TN, about 30 miles East of MS
River.

Just an update on this - last night FT5ZM was spotted briefly on 160M and I
went down to listen for awhile. I didn't hear much and what I did hear I
couldn't make myself believe it was them !
So I thought I would try and load up the tower and see if it repeated its bad
behavior. I couldn't get

Look closely and you may see a hairline crack on the bad one.

I have an omega matched 120 foot tower and I apparently have a bad vacuum
variable capacitor. Upon applying more than about 300 watts, the SWR goes off
scale. Tuning it out and trying again, yields the same thing.
The question is which capacitor is the culprit. These are surplus Soviet caps

Hi Wayne:
Instead of self-supporting elements for my 4-square, I used rope-supported wire
elements hung from the top of my 120 foot tower. I used 4x4 posts in concrete
to support the base of each vertical element and Budwig connectors to solder
the vertical elements on the center conductor and

Hi Guy:
I'm going to try elevated radials on my shunt-fed tower. I was thinking
about constructing an "Ugly Balun" for the job with 4" PVC and Bury-Flex.
What kind of choke do you use / recommend ? About how much coax should be
wound on
Yes, this is the way to do it. OD5NH was getting this bad rap too. You don't
need to send a SAE to OD5NH either as he returns it via postcard - avoids
suspicion by the police. Registered mail is quite expensive however.

Hello TB:
Thanks so much for the great replies !! Bottom line is I need to insulate
the tower from the guys. Several mentioned using a grid dipper to discover
the actual resonant frequency of the tower and then go from there. This
spring, I'll definitely do both and then get back in the action.

Hello TB:
I have a problem -I cannot seem to get a decent match either with Gamma or
Omega matching. My situation is a complex one that doesn't lend well to
modeling and I am forced to trying trial and error - mostly the latter. My
tower is 120 feet of Rohn 45 that has attached (non-insulated)
