I agree and lets remember the ol'timers (old school?) made 160 what it is today
from W1BB on up. They did it mostly without the aid of computers but with the
use of electronic theory and formulas using a pencil. The antennas and
practices are still in use today.

I hate to weigh in on this since it's been beaten to death already but just
another opinion. Over the years I've tried several digital modes starting with
psk31. There weren't many signals on the band at that time but now I see
there are many. Not to long ago I ventured into JT65 and JT9
If you google fly tying materials normally some of these outlets have a pretty
good assortment of boxes. Most or partitioned but some have foam which can be
removed or removable partitions.

Anyone needing a lot of staples for radials etc.. SKU# 760877 at Home Depot
will give you about 250 staples cut in one foot lengths and bent to shape for
$4.67.

Ditto on the Sony MDR-7506. Have been using them for quite a while. Not sure
why they were my choice but generally I do quite a bit of research before

Both are N750 types. You need a #6 lug, a short #6 screw (3/16th long), and
some #16 bus wire plus a brass washer that Ameritron will have. The chokes
come from Ameritron no matter where you buy them.

is ok. One missing connection is 10M mod. 160M Padding cap (170pf, 7500V

Ah, quick look at the schematic. Nothing on that bandswitch lug. Seeing some
solder on it thought for sure something missing. Black ungrounded wire-
schematic shows it grounded although just doubled over. I will go over it

"It might be something else, but I would bet the contact on the 160 padding
capacitor is burned off. This is what the anti-corona washer reduced. Heath
did not use that washer.
It arcs there when the loading cap is too far closed (too much grid current)
for the amount of drive on higher bands
Just came off 20M, amp working fine. Went to 160 plate and load controls have
no control, no output. Plate current climbs high with any added drive (45-50W)
and blew both 10amp fuses.Off comes the cover.jimk2hn

If it is being driven with 50 watts or more and does not tune into a 50 ohm
load, I'd carefully inspect the entire tank circuit and wiring of the tank.
This includes the switch (as Herb suggested).

Anybody know how to make an SB-1000 tune properly on 160? Ok on other bands
but doesn't like 160, dummy load or well tuned Inv.L. Is it a quirk of the
amp needing a modification or possibly a bad component? Saw nothing obvious
before putting it to use but have not had the cover off since.Tha

of Ham Radio we all love-keys. Has anyone tried or been using one of these
touch keys (no moving parts) etc.. I have various types of keys but the hands
don't work like they did at one time, especially in the Winte
