Well, since it is a public forum I have to side with Larry on this. I am a
contester and enjoy mostly top band operating but I would have to agree that
too much of a good thing gets old quick. It used to be that you looked
forward to the SP, but warm-ups, pre-warmups etc. seem to carry the theme
Folks, you are FLODDING the reflector with this thread ! Time to move on
to some other exiting subject.

I can vouch for this observation. During the entire two days of the ARRL
160 Test all traditionally NE stations in Europe were strongest on my NW 160
meter Beverage. My QTH is near Rochester NY , FN13bd.
Interesting thing is that all the TPs came in much better on the 60 deg
antenna than the 330
IMHO, this depends on what mode you are in. If you are searching and
pouncing he already knows your call as he came back and gave you a report.
So 5nn and section is perfectly fine here. If you are running, then sending
his call and the report is pretty much sop.

Usual east coast subjects have been preoccupied.
Listening this evening this signal is slightly SE of my location (FN13BD)
near Rochester NY. Both the beverages and 4 square confirm this without
ambiguity.

N0AH has had extensive experience with this antenna. He speaks about it
often in his communications. He can be reached at the address provided on

You guys are awful hard on the folks who were off frequency, could not
hear , operating in the "prescribed DX window" etc. Everyone needs to
step back and consider the challenges that the 160 meter band poses. It
has what, 50 kHz of usable contest space (not usable band space) with
excursion
