I actually got permission from the seller to go out there, set up an
antenna, and operate a 160 contest before making and offer.
The place worked great. I committed.

Be advised the gas used by the party stores these days is almost
always a mixture and not pure helium. That’s means considerably less
lift. You’ll likely need to source the good stuff from a industrial
gas supplier.

Hi Pete, I have a PILE of experience with K9AY loops, but I don't use
them in the usual "one-support-two-loops-four-directions"
configuration. Mine are all individual loops on individual supports
dedicated into arrays in various directions.
The first thing I would check is to make sure you
n't really go out with the chainsaw while it's happening.
That's for later.
I am liking the counterweight approach as what I may use if I put up
long wires like that.

getting to those places.
That's really all I know about that.
The vertical is 50 feet tall and has two symmetrical top-load wires that
bring the resonant frequency to 1.8 MHz.

In my head this is becoming "101 uses for old network cable" which is

the same symptom? From your description, all we
really know is that the degradation in performance of the antenna and
the condition of the binocular core are coincidental.
Your BOG might have some other issue that replacing the ferrite won't
change.

This has got to be on a case-by case basis. I don't have any listening
antennas, so i listen on my transmit vertical. It works fine. For me.

Would I hear more stuff with listening antennas? I bet the answer is
