I wasn't clear. I meant BCB filters at their receivers would not help those
stations being bothered by the second harmonic.

Unless I lost track of the conversation, we are talking about a station in
Colombia whose second harmonic is interfering with reception on 1840 in
Uruguay. A BCB filter would likely not help the stations being bothered by this
second harmonic.

I think 1840 works for most. Moving the FT8 frequency because of one second
harmonic of a broadcast signal is not called for. Getting the broadcast station
to clean up its signal is. There are other activities on 160 that would have to
change frequency if the FT8 frequency were to change. There
I worked 3G0Z in 2001. It was a six-meters only DXpedition. They had two
stations operating then. One was located in a local's house located on the
western shore of San Juan Bautista and the other was located on the eastern
shore at an inn. The reason for having both locations was that the stat
I don't have an explanation for this, but I had a similar experience during
the contest. My receiveantenna is an unterminated BOG running alongside the
road in front. I struggled to get F4HEC's call because he was so weak. He
persisted and I finally got it. He was the first European that I hear

Aren't US and Canadian broadcast stations on frequencies
that are divisible by 10, like 900, 910, 920 kHz? That would
place harmonics on 1800, 1820, 1840, etc. I think I read
somewhere before that European broadcast stations are
separated by 9 kHz. Could be remembering wrong about
that, though.

Last night was the best I've experienced on 160. Well, okay,
I haven't been on the band in any kind of seriousness until
recently, but still...
Gosh, when I tuned the band I almost immediately came
across OH0Z! Hearing Europe on CW is very rare for me.

I listen for CW and FT8. My receive antenna is an unterminated BOG
which does a barely acceptable job for what it is. I often hear South
American, Pacific and Asian stations on CW, but rarely hear Europe.
I know my receive antenna is not up to the job, but there is not much

Hi Jeff,
I'm a 50 MHz aficionado and recently decided to try 160 meters.
A while back, there was a writeup about Jack in one of the
magazines. The article included some photos of Jack's station,
one of which was of his giant 6-meter quagi - the one he used
to work Turkey on that band. I liked

Tim Pettis, KL7WE (SK), in chasing WAS on 432, was known to visit needed rare
states with a portable EME station, put it on from there, and work his own
station (as well as others) to get credit for those states. Another ham would
operate his home station. This action of vi
Hello -
I'm not able to run more than 150 watts when using JT65 on 160. RF gets into
the computer and disrupts the JT signal. I don't have this problem on 6m where
I run QRO using JT65 on EME. I installed ferrite beads on all radio and
