My property is similar, sloping away from the house to maybe 40’ below in all
directions. I wonder how much of an issue that is with a 4 square. The property
is about 300 x 300 square so there is no real room for any beverages. The 4
square would be sitting maybe 25’ below the high point (SE
They report lots of noise down there. 160 operation must be a nightmare.

I listened for you guys down that way but with my modest antenna system (GAP
Voyager - no RX antenna) nothing was heard here. QRN was light but building in

That plus the bandwidth of 160M antennas were probably taken into account in
the decision to put it at 1.840. Moving the FT8 frequency much higher would
shut a lot of the CW guys that like both modes.

When we worked you were right at the noise level but about 5 minutes later you
had built to a solid 559. Thanks for hanging in there with me. I’m running a
GAP Voyager without an RX antenna. Just enough to function on top band :-).

Rick,
Spectrum cable TV and Internet here (no phone) in central Ky. No problems after
running QRO (~ 1.25 KW) for about 6 months 160 thru 10.
