Topband: Switching Beverages

2011-02-01 Thread Pete Smith
If I have a Beverage "hub" from which I want to run several of them, is there any reason not to do the switching on the antenna side of the matching unit, rather than on the coax side? Could save some complexity, a couple of matching transformers at least. -- 73, Pete N4ZR The World Contest

Pete, here is my take on switching Beverages, It is a lot harder to make a switch with very good isolation at 500 ohms than it is at 50 or 75 ohms. You need very good isolation between connections so that your 20 to 30 dB notches are not destroyed by leakage from another antenna. What you sa

Hello all, Awhile back there was some discussion about switching Beverages. When I was back in Illinois, I had three bi-directional Beverages and I assembled my own circuitry for switching between antennas and directions. Being an industrial electrician, for me the project was rather straight-

Hi Pete, As long as your relays have decent isolation, even for high impedances, it may even be better to switch the Bev wires themselves. That way you don't share the ground at the feed end, and avoid any common impedance coupling. 73, Greg, ZL3IX On 2011-02-02 11:29, Pete Smith wrote: > If

I use an RCS-4 but I replaced the remote antenna switch box with my own using $1.25 relays from Allelectronics. The remote box is a  small plastic one  also from Allelectronics. The isolation is super with the small DIP relays. With the addition of another relay at the controller, it is easy to
