Well... he confirmed it. Granted that it may not have been used for all
QSOs.
Based on the posted correspondence, it's clear he is not doing anything
with ill intent. It's either need, or his way of enjoying the hobby.

Hi Manoj.
Much appreciate your (RX antenna) efforts !
Don't worry too much about the typical negative comments, especially those on
chat-rooms.
Today's world is too much about "instant gratification at no personal effort".
And self-declared know-it-all personalities :)

Thank you Manoj, it was more then hard but we did it!
I was running a WEBSDR under Ubuntu16 on 6 meters myself to control the quality
of my signal especially on JT65 so I know the technology from the inside.

Hello,
I am a newbie on TB and started working here only from 02 Dec 2017. I have so

Each of these QSOs, were hard, but I can proudly say I heard and worked all on

I worked VU2GSM on 80M a couple of weeks ago. He was 559 and very copyable

The recent changes to DXing has belittled the efforts many of us have made
in the past. The honor of completing real contacts on challenging bands has
disappeared. Now there is little point on working hard to add countries from
ones needed list. It has gotten to the point that the award is closing
Fortunately, WAS rules are different. If they weren't you could work all states
on10 GHz just by driving or flying from state to state.
If DXCC worked this way there would be a lot fewer guys on the top of the Honor
Roll. That said, the 50 mile rule wouldn't affect me one bit:-)

Thanks for posting this Steve - much that has been puzzling me is now clear.
Remote SDRs, bizarre DXCC "entities", lists, skeds, FT8 etc are why I stopped
pursuing awards a long long time ago. But to each his merry own...73

Paul, You should check the rules on that WiFi linked beverage. In CQ WW for
instance, its not allowed. All RX and TX antennas have to be connected by
wires. Some contests - like CQ 160 - allow your set up within the rules.

Good evening Paul. I cannot speak for your personal remote but I can tell
you the rules at RHR: you identify the state (or grid if on FT8 or JT65) of
the station from which you are transmitting. Those are the rules under which

There has been some related discussion on the Clublog group.
I'm 76 years old (this is my 60th year in ham radio) and two away (SV/A and
FR/G) from top of the Honor Roll. I don't think I'll make it in this lifetime.
In these years, I've had a local DXer (SK) call me on the telephone to let me
I hope the ARRL issues some guidelines on this
subject soon..
Likely a new "DXCC -1/2" Award is already in the works.

Hi,
There are more than moral or ethical issues using WebSDR. The logs I
expect to submit (eventually) are for receive-only activity. I see
problems netting with signals coming through the WebSDR station. Not
insurmountable but not trivial either. The real deal for me and a
question...how do
Unfortunately webSDR are widely used from many hams around the world. I
wonder why webSDR owners don't add 5 seconds delay to their software.
This way we will have just all the goodies without problems. So some of
us want and encourage this one.
There are also people who use (hiring or not) re
Steve, interesting to a stn that needs VU on 160. I agree and respect your
conclusion. With 318 on the TB ball, it is tempting but glad to know the
situation.
BTW, I'm impressed with your EU QRV.
Hang in, we'll get a clean CW two way with India at some date

We may be debating this issue too much – IMHO it seems simple using the ARRL
DXCC rules: If both the Rx and the Tx are located within the borders of the
country (Rx cud be 1000 miles away..), it’s a valid QSO for DXCC, WAS, etc
purposes. They have accepted fully “remote” operations for DXCC cred
