Bruce,
Semantic MediaWiki uses MySQL, but not as a triplestore per se (i.e. with
the Jena SDB interface), so the only way for TopBraid to use that data
directly would be with the D2RQ interface, and then you'd have to figure
out how the system models triples in MySQL.

Patrick, Derek; It's also vitally important to let us know what
version and edition of Composer is being used, as well as the OS. For
example, Unix-based systems often default to Open JDK, but Sun/Oracle
JDK is required for Composer (see

Paul; In terms of usability, this is always a contextualized
requirement dependent on the type of user. TopBraid Composer provides
a standards-based UI for base ontology editing. In addition TopBraid

specialized requirements such as
Hello Jeff; Note that if you save the password in the mapping file,
the password is saved in plain text. That won't pass many

Just a follow up to this, as I spent some time on this same issue this morning.
I'm confused as to why the wizard doesn't store the password in the Mapping

go to open the D2RQ database, which isn't an entirely obvious
Bruce,
I wrote something about using TopBraid Composer to create a specialized

if that helps with the mechanics of creating your ontology.

Indeed Holger this is cleaner.
But there is also the user's perspective who doesn't always want
separate properties for several potential datatypes, certainly when
the datatypes are very close to each other such as xsd:date,
xsd:gYearMonth, xsd:Year.
In a real project in the Cultural Heritage doma
Hi Bob,
Patrick has downloaded and rerun with the same error occurring. Is it
likely that java config may cause this? If so what should patrick
check before installing?
Cheers

Aza,
I think I know where you are getting at, because I remember I faced a
similar issue earlier, which I fixed.
After you download and unzip/install TopBraid Composer, when you start
it up for the very first time, Eclipse or TopBraid Composer registers
some UI components and configuration i
