stood at the same point as you are now. I than wrote me a skript, where it:
1. pulls the latest source
2. backs up the old data (identity)
3. compiles and installs tor
4. copies the old data on the new installation

| gpg --import
2. gpg --export A3C4F0F979CAA22CDBA8F512EE8CBC9E886DDD89 | sudo apt-key add -
After that try (sudo apt-key list) OR (gpg --list-keys) should list the updated
