[tor-relays] Unreachable ORPort - Potential ISP block?

2015-04-05 Thread CJ Barlow
I'm attempting to run a Relay but I haven't been able to get it the ORPort to be confirm as reachable. I've tried lots of things but I'm hoping there is something I haven't thought of yet that can make this work! I've got a 50Mbps symmetrical connection (without data caps) that I would love to have

Just to update, I got it to work! :-) I added a Dynamic DNS to the router and once it was established I reloaded Tor. It immediately found the ORPort and then did the bandwidth self-test. ("Self-testing indicates your ORPort is reachable from the outside. Excellent. Publishing server descriptor.")

[tor-relays] Delete keys on reboot

2015-04-21 Thread CJ Barlow
The Tor Relay Security document suggests deleting keys upon reboot to prevent one-time key theft. I have tried to do this in Raspbian via cron but have been unsuccessful. The cronjob I have running is: @reboot rm -f /var/lib/tor/keys/* && echo "keys gone!" > /home/[me]/reboot.txt 2>&1 I have the

Check the settings of your log rotate as well. If logs are causing the space issue that will help clear it up. On Apr 22, 2015 1:37 PM, "Jeffrey Hathaway" wrote: > Hello Everyone, > > I noticed ARM stopped working for me. Has anyone seen this before? > > Traceback (most recent call last): > Fi

What model of NetGear do you have? A static IP is not required. You may need to setup a Dynamic DNS if tor has issues with your dynamic IP. On Tue, Jun 23, 2015, 13:22 Tor Zilla wrote: > Hello All, > > I just bought a Raspberry Pi.. Wanted to setup as a Tor non exit relay. > > I have read so ma

It's probably unusual but exemplifies why exit nodes should not be run from a home connection. On Mon, Apr 4, 2016, 23:54 Greg wrote: > > http://www.npr.org/sections/alltechconsidered/2016/04/04/472992023/when-a-dark-web-volunteer-gets-raided-by-the-police > > A Seattle exit node operator is vis

If you are looking to torrent it's best to use a seedbox (a VPS dedicated to torrents). I doubt there are any really good companies that would allow an exit relay and torrents on the same box. On Mon, Apr 11, 2016, 14:38 Tristan wrote: > Very few people allow truly unlimited transfer. If you're
