Oops. Server = hidden service and node = relay. It made sense in my mind,
but precision is important. I'm already kinda tight on my bitcoin node
(190/256MB). Averaging 1MByte/s and 20 simultaneous connections, would it
be worth trying to squeeze a Tor hidden service in there? What are the

Why is it suggested not to do this? Does it matter as long as I'm not at
all concerned about privacy? I want to run a wallet-less bitcoin node and
thought I might as well make it accessible via Tor, however it definitely
isn't worth paying for an extra server to serve as a dedicated proxy.

Hi all
This was interesting - not sure if I've missed discussion of it here,
but I didn't find anything with a quick search.

Tl:dr; the author set up a very basic honeypot to detect potentially
abusive guard and exit nodes, and found some. (Que
I'm Linux user and I attempted to set up TOR relay or server but I'm too
unexperianced to do that.
I tried to youtube to learn but as much as I understand, since end of Vidalia,
there is no simple (graphical) way to set it up.
So, as an end user I came up to a fairly simple solution that would

Most of the configuration (at least in my case) has to do with
deciding on the right speed for the relay and setting a bandwidth cap.
And when using a VPS, I set "AccountingMax" and "AccountingStart" to
stay within my expected billing range. So I would say that would
present the biggest iss

torify / torsocks is a huge hack with Linux library preloading. Not very
clean, can leak DNS, etc.
With apt-

Hi All,
I've discover the apt-transport-tor project (
see https://github.com/diocles/apt-transport-tor) and I've got a
question: what's the difference between apt-transport-tor and a
command-line such "torrify apt-get". I've send an email to the
