[tor-talk] Dropping Tor Browser support for Mac OSX 10.6?

2014-09-02 Thread Mike Perry
Mac OS 10.6 has been end-of-life since either September 2013 (last security update) or February 2014, depending on how you count: http://arstechnica.com/apple/2014/03/snow-leopard-updates-are-probably-done-here-are-your-os-x-upgrade-options/ Our policy with dropping support in the past has been to

10.6 still supports Rosetta to run old apps. 10.7 means having to upgrade EVERYTHING. That's why I still run 10.6 (and there was even more to be said for 10.4 which ran pre-OSX apps, but my 10.4 machine died). -- tor-talk mailing list - tor-talk@lists.torproj

[Short answer] As an individual user, I don't need Tor on Mac OS 10.6, but as a developer of a soon to be released Tor-dependent project I would like to see support continue. [Long answer] We are developing a system called HideMeta that relies on Tor and other proven security components to encry

if you're releasing a paid product which depends on torbrowser running on 10.6, are you willing to donate for 10.6 support maintenance? as a developer you might be aware of the caveats when supporting 32 and 64 bit versions. apart from not having to write hundreds of #ifdefs, testing 50% less c
