We've indeed seen issues with Touch running out of memory
Aside from demonstrating some intemperate attitudes by some posters, I
think this thread demonstrates we don't really have a good vocabulary
for describing squeezebox. Servers and players (and controllers?) are
all components we can weave into systems. How does one describe

tinkering, but with subsequent releases of the software, it has become
very stable. I'm planning to use a Touch as a "nicer" receiver in my HT
rig. I'll then use one receiver for my outdoor speakers and another for

If you have Remote Login enabled, it would be interesting to see what
was in /var/log/messages when the first update fails, and what the
'free' command shows. Are you running any applets or patches?

Are you using the built-in server (TinySC)? I saw that in the Radio
pre-release software and it seemed related to memory usage. I can't

I had to reformat it with fat32. Now it works (it seems).
It takes ALONG time though to transfer 100 GB of music (like 20 hours
about)
Then, hopefully, I have a cool silent storage soloution.

When I try to acces my usb stick connected to the Touch from my macbook

I think the idea here is to contact the Squeezebox Server page at port

On that webpage you can selectand control any player...
If the Nokia is a web-enabled an it can hook up to the local netword
via WiFi. If all firewalls are open/allowed it must be possible just
like any other device.

I use a Maxtor 500 gig ( now sold as Seagate) which I bought a couple of

While I don't use them for music, I have 2 units of AppleTV that I like
a lot.
I think their biggest issue (aside limited internal storage space if
you're synching with iTunes) is that the platform draws well over 10W
at all time.
The hard drive chirps from time to time, so it is not completely
I guess with todays technology this is not an issue anymore. I never had
this occurance with LCD, Plasma and LED Screens...
