is anybody else having trouble with this either being not available or
when it is,at the moment, constantly cutting out? i'm also getting
problems with the wma stream on another internet radio constantly
reconnecting.

All BBC streams seemed very flaky yesterday - better today, so far.

The bandwidth requirement for radio streams is minimal - at 9mb you
could stream HD video!

if they have a problem why don't they admit it and make the service

The actual streaming is done by 3rd parties service companies (like
akamai) - different ones for UK and international. In the past (not
sure now) there used to be regional server centres within
Hi there,
I've been lurking this forum for a while but this is my first post. I
have got a bit confused as to what will actually work with the
squeezebox touch and so I hope someone can point me in the right
direction
I'd like to use the touch as an almost stand-alone unit playing music

Some of what is listed works, some do not. People making these drives
are constantly coming out w new models which makes it difficult to
develop a list of what works and keep it up to date. I would recommend

You can conect to the attached drive over the network so one actually
don't need to remove it to add files, this may not be fantastically fas
especially if you add files over wifi .
You should still provide the Touch with internet connection most
obviusly for internet radio and services.

Thanks to you both. Those links have been quite helpful. The example in
Tobys link is very like my situation, except I would prefer a
externally powered Hard-disk as opposed to one reliant on the
squeezebox and I'm not really concerned about keeping album art.
The rescan aspect I wasn't really
From the LMS Control Panel click on Advanced Settings. Next click on
Advanced. On the left you will see Formatting w a down arrow. Click on
the arrow which will give you a dropdown list. Click on software
updates. You will see a box which shows Automatically check for
updates. Clicking on the
LMS and the Touch firmware need to be in sync. Do an update, then it
will stop asking you to update.
Then do as dasmueller says.

Many thanks, as I say, is working, so daren't revisit updating LMS on
NAS, it took me at least 5 days just to get it working originally
(retagging etc etc). But will ask it to stop prompting as recommended

The message you are getting on the Touch refers to the Touch firmware
NOT the LMS software. Updating the Touch will not affect the LMS - it
will however bring both into sync.

Welcome to the world of buggy, under-resourced Logitech server! I still
get this problem frequently (although not half as much as I used to in
the early days before the firmware was significantly improved). Artwork
does NOT havr to be 150x150 max. Mine is typically 768x768, and I have

Sorry for such a naive (probably very old) question, but after much
Googling I cannot find the answer.
Can anyone explain why, when the SB Touch is being used in *standalone
mode* (using tiny server or Logitech server, or whatever it's called
these days) the router needs to be switched on? Does
how old fw are you running this should be fixed long ago if not try to

Touch is two things internally a Squeezeboxplayer and a Squeezeboxserver
.
When you run it standalone the two happens to be on the same box, the
Tiny server can actually stream to other players on your network just
as the Touch player can conect to another server.
And then the whole internet

It works with the samplebit set to 16. This can be found in the stream0

Interesting - thanks for the reply. I didn't realise that was a bug that
had been fixed. I'm having issues now with the local music server
stopping for some unknown reason, but I guess it's just the same old
crappy buggy Touch issues that everyone has from time to time, and
nothing to do with the
I am trying to understand this but am not sure I am getting it. You have
a network setup that you choose to shutdown for periods of time, perhaps
to save electricity ? You have your HDD w music files attached to the

After having updated fw lately, both the latest updates have had an
issue where the touch won't go to standby. Pressing the power-icon in
upper left isn't doing anything but giving a clicking sound... Pressing
the power button on the remote also doesn't do anything. Any ideas?

I had exactly the same problem - music service stopping for some unknown
reason. For the last 24 hours I could only scan in half a dozen albums
or so (and had to move most of my data into a folder starting with a
full-stop to prevent it scanning) or else the music service stopped
while scanning.
there are no benefits to 192, or 96 for that matter.
