A note to anyone buying a USB2.0 hub to plug into the back of the Touch.
It seems that they are not all created equal. I ordered a cheap one from
Ebay last week and when it arrived it turned the clicking I had every
second or so with Kernel #2 into a completely unlistenable noise. The
music was
All sorted after a factory reset - thanks.
What I didn't realise is that tt -s on the Touch interface shows
'Modification WLAN - Disabled' which actually means the WLAN is ON !
(The status refers to the intention of the modification, not the actual
status of the parameter). A bit confusing but

Now to work out whether there is any audible difference between kernel
#1 and kernel #2!
I doubt it - kernel #1 is sending bigger packets every 2ms, kernel #1
smaller packets every 1ms. Other than that they are the same. The
feedback packets return at the same time.
By testing systematically I found that the minimal buffer size for
playing 24/96 material is 7000, with less than 7000 there is no sound
at all.
Did anyone observe that with the kernel #2 and TT 3.0 the Touch needs
to go through a power off/ power on cycle behause it won't stir after a
couple

I recently reset my router, and as DHCP chance would have it, the IP
address for my mac mini which runs LMS changed. (I plan on assigning a
static name to the LMS server soon.)
I was able to reconnect the touch to the LMS, but the IP address for
the server still displays with the old ip address

I've not experienced this - was the touch still connected to the server
in this case? (Standby mode really only means a different display
screen, so it would normally look the same from the server perspective)
The LMS is not running while the NAS is in standby mode
Here are my results, this is for headphones plugged into the headphone
jack on the Touch, I did a factory reset before starting the test so no
TT3.0 etc.

5 -2 -2 -1
7 -3 -1 -3
9 -1 -2 -6
That's as many tests as I had time for.

The SB system uses a UDP broadcast message to try and find each other,
the so called discovery protocol. Every time the server starts up it
tries to find all players on the LAN and every time a player starts it
tries to find all servers on the LAN. So a IP address or name change
