i have this same dac "Maverick",how does it sound with the touch? getting the touch tomorrow and was going to run the touch analog straight to my receiver as i thought the touch had a great built in dac,hmmm I might just have to try that -- c-eling --

Yes, I've encountered this problem with the Touch when switching between sample rates. Some DACs do not mute the sound when switching between sample rates, so you end up with these popping noises. -- Daverz Daverz's Profi

If you cue up only 24/96 songs in a list does it then pops between songs or not, This issue should be fixed all recent fw versions. Popping when shifting samplerate is probably more of an DAC issue, as the built in does not pop -- Mnyb -

I tried using the DAC on a Duet and I don't have this problem. I'm assuming it has to do with the higher bitrate flac files that are 24/96. They are the ones that pop in the beginning prior to the first note. On the Duet it's ok but I'm assuming it is because the Duet resamples the file to 24/4
