Oh yeah. I'd forgotten that 'net radio is generally louder and that
nearly all of today's CDs that you rip will have negative, not positive
ReplayGain.

You migth prefere the compresssed sound of spotify, a more correct
reproduction off the source migth not be to your liking ?
Also make sure that the replaygain feature is off.
Some very bad sounding modern pop recordings migth sound better by
being processed by spotify or some radiostation, that
flac using eac, Apple lossless using itunes etc.

I've experienced that Spotify does a lot of Dynamic compression, too.

differences in volume lead listeners to prefer the louder version.

320k Vorbis should be basically indistinguishable for probably
everyone.

Try listening to some higher bitrate Mp3, Ogg or AAC files through your
system. Some blind listening tests have shown some people to prefer Mp3
to lossless formats.

SB Touch -> Rega DAC -> Naim Nait XS -> Rega RS5 speakers.
I've never entirely been happy with the s/q of my system. Recently, I
tried the dac with a laptop, and the system sounded a lot better, like
a lot of noise disappeared. The system sounded a lot less shrill a
