Does anyone know what the effect of plugging an ethernet loopback cable
into a SBTouch would be? Would the Touch see the ethernet as connected
and thus turn off the wifi?

Can't you just set it up using wired ethernet, then pull it off the
network?

Wouldn't the wireless adapter be activated on the next power-up? My
understanding of older SBs is that, when connected to ethernet, the
wifi adapters were actually de-powered.

Actually, that seems not to be the case with the Touch. After setting
up with wired ethernet and restarting, a # ifconfig still lists the
wlan0 device.
Pity.

So I doubt that using a loopback cable is going to make any difference.

If you are trying to turn off the WiFi thats one of the options in
soundcheck's toolkit 2.0. The thread on the TT2.0 is over in the
audiofile section. You should be able extract just the wifi part of it
if you don't want to run the rest.
