I bought a new Touch last week, and have been using it in conjunction
with my Synology NAS as Squeezebox server (7.5.3), either with local
music on the NAS or with Spotify. I use iPeng as client.
I've had exactly this symptom 3 times now... Exactly as you describe,
the track appears to start play
Next time this happens (which I hope is never) try just turning the
Touch on and off, if you haven't tried that already.

SqueezePad (on my iPad) as well as the Web interface showed a file
being played for about 15 seconds before reverting to the beginning of
the track. The pause/stop button did not stop this from happening. But
