I would start from scratch and re-install SB. I have the exact same
setup as you, I am using an asus eee pc netbook with windows 7 and an
external USB HD for the past few months and have not had any problems
with my Touch talking to the SB server on the eee.

Stab in the dark. Is the HD connected via USB? Try the other USB port.

Thanks. Yeah both getting ip addresses via auto dhcp from a wired
Linksys router and both seem to have unique addresses. Still can't
figure out.

That's a strange one, and I don't have any ready answers for you. This
is a longshot, but could it be an IP address conflict? How are the
Touch and eee box getting their IP addresses?

I just got a Asus eee box and have attached a WD 1tb ext HD by mounting
