I pondered this as well and have just upgraded from a receiver seeing the advise here that the digial transport is superior in the touch but wondered if my kit was high end enough to notice it. On both receiver and touch I'm connecting via coax tos-link using an AudioQuest VDM1 to an Onkyo TX-NR1

Thanks for the replies. The 24/96 may be my biggest motivation but agree that the all around experienc adds to the whole. Will just be patient and wait on a good deal. Wouldn't mind used but they seen to be selling at around 200.00 and can buy new around 250 including shipping. Thanks again. St

Besides you some niceties as: Better native format support including 24/96 , AAC, ALAC . An UI on the player ! setup and fault racing is now a breeze ,compared to the pita of finding out what that flashing diode means :) An UI it shows cover art or track names or similar, an improved version of

Have considered a new dac but seems it would be significant $'s to better the dac 60. Wired4sound dac is a consideration. This " but I found them easy to notice" to me would be significant. Can you give specifics about the difference? --
