OK, I just tested with a Live-USB disk of Linux Mint 17.2 Cinnamon
(kernel 3.16) newly burned from the ISO file and suspend/resume works
great. Multiple times in a row, from the shutdown icon, from the power
button, and from the notebook lid close/open. So this is either Kernel
or distro dependant

Although Unity7 recently got "fixed" so it does have a larger cursor
that scales with everything else. So I'm not sure if that makes this bug

Even apps that do display a window "immediately" will get a splash screen of
the wrong size displayed before a window of the correct size appears. This will
be particularly important after bug 1606501 gets fully fixed.

After the reinstall xscreensaver is still locking by default. I can disable
this feature in Settings and it is now fine (Because it does not lock).
However, I wanted this locking feature, it is still a bug in that enabling this
locking feature still locks the screen for the guest account,
I have the same problem after upgrading to 16.04 from 14.04.
I am using a Kaveri APU, that is supposed to work with both "radeon" and
"amdgpu" drivers.
The "radeon" driver doesn't work: after the very initial steps of the
bootstrap, the screen goes black, although a may access the system via
...Now I am not so sure, the system i am using still has this problem: It is
MintXFCE.
I will purge and reinstall and see if it is a config problem somewhere.
