installing plymouth-theme-ubuntu-text, then modifying
/etc/apt/sources.list from xenial to bionic and finally running sudo

This isn't a gdm3 bug, right?
If it's a systemd or systemd unit problem and it's still happening, we
probably need to provide some more information so that xnox or someone
can help and take a look. I tried and just booting a live session in a
VM and shutting it down works for me.

The issue there is/was again that most indicators had translations
sharing enabled in launchpad which means the template was not imported
from the package on upload. I did unset those now but some of the
indicators might need an upload to trigger an import. I uploaded

We have another hit of this by memory hot plug (when locked I assume).
I asked the reporters to chime in here.
But even for the former case we had given the time we wait already I want to
bump the prio.
This is really important to some use cases.
