I have tested on my Radeon RX480, also AMDGPU drivers, git snapshot from
20180829 from Padoka PPA, and this bug occurs with Totem as well.

"copied" from one computer to another. I was able to re-create the
virtual machine from scratch (using the same install image, and
installing the same software, etc) on the new computer, and did not get

Well, if the drivers were being updated automatically with a system
update they weren't for me.
The engineer didn't explain exactly what he did, sorry.
The repair wasn't expensive, so maybe you should get an engineer to look
at?
