I also see random results for dot-less domain or host names, i.e. it
seems after a certain timeout, a hostname is not found e.g. when trying
to establish an SSH connection to that machine using a single-label

I had to reload gnome-shell to get the Belgian input method despite I
had several other French ones, and the Belgian regional settings.
It's confusing that the Belgian layout does not appear automatically.

the value you put in RESUME variable must match your logical volume path.
/dev/vg_system/lv_swap matches mine, but yours might be different. Check with
lvdisplay what is the name of your logical volume and then use it inside the
resume file.
