networking restarts unreliably: Sometimes it restarts fine, sometimes it
takes a few seconds to restart, and sometimes it takes more than a
minute (I didn't wait longer).

Same issue here. NFS fails to mount at boot, but logging in and issuing
a manual "mount -a" resolves until the next reboot.
It should also be noted that there's a significant delay on boot with
nfs entries in fstab - need to time it, but ~1 minute.

Adding fix for Xenial in case the issue turns out more important and we
release the fix.
The patch needs testing, but should work.

cache.commit() does not release all the locks it acquires as part of
committing. This is a regression of locking fixes in bug 1795407.
[Test case]
This script should work:
#!/usr/bin/env python
import apt
import subprocess
cache = apt.Cache()
pkg = cache["hello"]
This was fixed in disco, in 1.8.4. It also affects cosmic and bionic;
and the proposed SRU for bug 1795407 in xenial.

@sil2100 I think there is a regression in the other locking fixes, as
reported in https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=922416 -
but that said, we have that in every other release too, and I'll upload
SRUs for that later.

successfully and the package has now been released to -updates.
Subsequently, the Ubuntu Stable Release Updates Team is being
unsubscribed and will not receive messages about this bug report. In

break X.
