I was also finally able to get an Apple "Magic Mouse" to work using the
command line hack mentioned by the reporter, with Ubuntu 14.04. It's
working on a Mac Mini, incidentally, which finally has a decent OS on
it.

I leave the computer on overnight (since suspend doesn't work for me in
14.04) and when I arrive at work in the morning, System Update is often
running but won't
One other thing--I think Compiz tends to crash every night, because in
the morning I find whatever windows I left open scattered around my
first workspace. Perhaps this could be reproduced by launching the
Software updater and then crashing Compiz? Or running 'compiz
--replace'?
