This issue can be observed in Xenial and Yakkety.
Install `gtk-3-examples` and run `gtk3-widget-factory`, look at the
toolbar on Page 2, the last icon (tooltip 'Insert something') is
disabled and should be dimmed, but is not.
I have also reproduced this issue on Xenial and Yakkety using:

Bug 1588230 and bug 1624071 are fixed now. I'm fairly sure I understand
bug 1624317 (and it would be fixed in yakkety now), and bug 1449001 is
not actually a malfunction but just some disagreement about a builtin
fallback if no DNS servers are configured (and thus fairly irrelevant
really).

Note that in current Yakkety, NetworkManager uses dns=dnsmasq again,
because until two weeks ago there was no resolved plugin for
NetworkManager. That exists upstream now, but not yet in our packages,
thus resolved only learned about these via dhcp-client writing the
nameservers into /etc/resolv.co
