When you login in ubuntu 18.10 using gnome shell and wayland, dbus
always crashes and you are welcomed with a dialog to report the crash.
Looking into the file `/var/crash/_usr_bin_dbus-daemon.1000.crash` one
can see that there is antoher bug, previoulsy reported as #1591548

When the input password field is empty, the prompt is a vertical bar.
But as soon as you type something in it, it becomes, something like a

Using Dell Inspiron 15 3521 with Intel HD 4000 and an external monitor on
HDMI output, in 15.04 beta 2:
when closing the lid of the laptop, the laptop does not go to sleep (suspend
to ram) as expected, but instead stays on, with the external monitor still on.
I
the RTC clock was kept in UTC. This gave a wrong time at boot, and
possibly shoke fsck about a superblock in the future.
Once I changed UTC to yes in /etc/default/rcS, I was able to remove the
fsck.mode=skip as they were no more 30s delay during boot.
FIXED !

sorry to spam here but this is working now. I don't know why sometimes
it works and sometimes not. (I mean working with the systemd work-around
enabled in /etc/systemd/logind.conf)
Another problem when it's working is that the laptop screen brightness
is reverted to maximum and that controls from
So this seems to be a new feature of systemd (introduced in systemd
211): when docked, it does not suspend when closing the lid
Changing HandleLidSwitchDocked to suspend in /etc/systemd/logind.conf
fixed the problem; that is I get the expected behavior that when
closing the lid the laptop goes to
I am wrong. It only worked once in archlinux. I have no idea why it does
not work anymore.

systemd-fsck laps 30s on boot
when the lid is closed, I can see in Display Settngs or with xrandr that
the integrated screen (ldvs) is off.
If I use Suspend in the cog menu, the laptop goes to sleep normally.

so I removed the bcache LUKS device thing from the equation:
I commented it out the relevant line for home in /etc/crypttab and /etc/fstab
to use a dummy empty folder for /home on the main root SSD partition
and rebooted
and this still happens, this time it is
$ systemd-analyze blame|head -5

It worked, at least a little better as I was able to play at least 2 hours

Steam
I have this problem too. I am running 14.10 but I already had the problem in
14.04
The update manager icon appears in the dash taskbar but clicking the icon never
grings up the update manager window.
Plug-in in another screen make appears the window in the second screen.
This bug is not fixed

another screen
