Title: GTK File selector Status in GTK+ GUI Toolkit: Won't Fix Status in gtk+2.0 package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: 1) In the file selector (GTK+) it should be possible to decide what columns to show (ex. file size, permissions, owner) instead of forcing to have only a Filename and Date columns. 3) There should be an option to switch to icon view (with preview like in Nautilus) so that finding files is simpler and easier 4) Add a "Properties" dialog in the popup menu (right click) for items (like in Nautilus) so that it is possible to see additional information about files (sometimes I have trouble because I don't know if I'm going to open the "right" file) I think that KDE File selector is not confusing at all, having the previews (which can be hidden), file infos, iconview, icon bookmarks,... Currently the file selector is as ugly as the OSX one.
