It’s not hard to fix, but there have been other priorities which prevented this
one from making its way into RTM until now.
Now RTM is locked down until it is rebased on vivid, which will happen very
soon (next OTA update), at which point you will get the fonts installed by
default. Sorry that i
Thanks but why is it so hard to fix it. Any way my nothing I can do except
waiting.

@ogra: can this seed change be backported to RTM? It sounds like a

Rakesh, this bug potentially affects every single application on ubuntu
touch, not just the browser, so it’s not useful to mark webbrowser-app
as affected. The bug is already tracked where it belongs, in ubuntu-
touch-meta.

Confirmed for ubuntu-touch-meta and marked invalid for webbrowser-app as
it’s not specific to the browser, it potentially affects all
applications trying to display nepali text.

This is still not solved in ubuntu touch rtm r5 on my nexus 4. Is there
any work going on? Thanks in advance.

Alternatively, we could make webbrowser-app depend on fonts-lohit-deva.
But other apps trying to display nepali text would suffer the same
issue, so if possible I think it would be better to add the package to
the seed.

That’s the thing: fonts-lohit-deva is not installed by default on
devices, which is why I added an ubuntu-touch-meta task to see if it
makes sense to add that package to the default install.

Devnagari is also the nepali script. But if it is already installed then
why wouldn't it display nepali unicode texts. fonts-lohit-deva description
does say it for devnagari which neans nepali also. But i am not sure. If
mangal is used then its 100% solved.

I added an ubuntu-touch-meta task to track the potential addition of a
suitable font package to the seed.

It looks like mangal is not packaged in Ubuntu, unfortunately. Would
fonts-lohit-deva be acceptable as a fallback?

mangal is the default nepali unicode font.

Rakesh, do you happen to know a font that supports nepali unicode
characters that would be suitab
