I was only able to reproduce the thread pounding on the phone, neither
X11, Mir desktop session or the emulator have shown this same behaviour.
On the device, however, this is happening right from the start. The
incomplete backtrace also suggests this is triggered from the android
side, IIUC.

Re: threads, there was bug #1359951 before, it was concluded that the
thread is created and destroyed by either the driver or the hwcomposer,
not much can be done without vendor support.
