Shall we differ between 'keep display on' due to a notification and
other cases. Like the media player requesting the screen to stay on
during playback.

will probably involve the user touching the screen (-inactivity timeout

I believe the screen timeout is already separate to the lock timeout.
I have my phones set to lock after 10 minutes but the screen dims after
about 1 minute still. Doesn't seem to be configurable.
