I think he's asking about the case one installs xorg-server-
lts-{vivid,wily} on Trusty. In this case, the bug does apply (sort of)
to Trusty.

I've patched the vivid / wily versions since we know that X.org 1.17 is
used. We still need to decide how to fix this for the LightDM project in
a generic way.
