2) Could you please reproduce the crash, and then attach your dmesg and
xorg uncompressed/untarred?
3) Is the crash something that started happening after an update?

i ran
sudo apt-get install python-apport
and then
apport-collect 1744429
which appears to have added comments 3, 4, 5, and 6, each of which include an
attachment.
please clarify what else would you like me to do.
