Hi everyone,
I finally managed to make dell's technical service change my micron hard drive
to a different one, obviously the computer didn't fail anymore. He never got
stuck again. Also install ubuntu 18.04 offered in dell downloads, but I will
return to ubuntu 20. Thank you all for your help.
That's bug 1550779, as mentioned in comment #7.

[comet lake] Gnome freezes, icons missing, graphics corruption
Thanks Timo, I will comment on some effect, however in the log viewer
several messages disappeared that I had before, for example (drm:
intel_cpu_fifo_underrun_irq_handler [i915]] * ERROR * CPU pipe A FIFO
underrun)
** Attachment added: "mensajes de registro"
it came preinstalled with 4.15.0-1042-oem
yes, you can edit /etc/default/grub but you miswrote the parameter, it
has to be literally 'i915.enable_psr=0' without any spaces or it won't
work

Hi,
I do not remember what was the kernel that came with the machine, but if it was
a 4. etc, the current kernel I have is 5.4.0-12-generic # 15-Ubuntu SMP.
How can I edit the grub i915.enable_psr = 0 ?.
Are these steps that I found on the internet right?
sudo nano /etc/default/grub
edit line
Oh actually, try booting with i915.enable_psr=0
It's possible the panel model has changed, and the platform was
certified with another model which didn't support panel self refresh.

Comet Lake is a gen9 gpu like Skylake etc, it only needed pci-id's to
gain support. I have the upcoming desktop version ('CML-S') running
without issues, and don't recall seeing issues with the mobile version
either ('CML-U').

Is this the kernel that ships with the machine? 5.4.11-050411-generic
Also is Mesa 19.0 expected to support Comet Lake fully?

SSD or FS corruption doesn't seem to appear in the original kernel log
attached to this bug. I suspect that's a new issue and not the cause of
this bug, but it might be...

Hello, 7 days ago I received the notebook and the bios was version 1.2
and automatically updated to 1.4. dell support doesn't respond yet but
since I tried 3 OS (ubuntu 18, fedora 31 and ubuntu 20.04) and all three
failed in the same way, it could point to a problem of Hw that can be
the Ssd. I
The platform has gone through extensive testing when it was certified by
us, so I wonder if the hw is faulty somehow, or if there's a BIOS update
available that might help?

Dear, I have the same mistakes again with Wayland and especially with the
updates.
I did everything you suggested, I no longer have outdated library problems but
the bugs remain the same: c

Thanks but that crash report is not relevant here.
Please follow the instructions in comment #8.

Hi everyone,
Thank you very much Daniel for your attention and recommendations but ..;
1. I installed ubuntu 20.04, everything started fine, but it failed again in
the same way as in ubuntu 18, before this I was testing fedora 31 and the same
errors were presented for both ubuntu 18, 20 and
Finally, the problem might be triggered by the atomic modesetting code
used by Xorg sessions. Please try logging into 'Ubuntu on Wayland' and
tell us if that avoids some of the problem.

This also appears once in your kernel log:
[ 24.955117] [drm:intel_cpu_fifo_underrun_irq_handler [i915]] *ERROR*
CPU pipe A FIFO underrun
which might be associated with the flashing and out-of-sync screen you
describe. See bug 1550779.

Thanks.
I should have noticed earlier that you're using very new hardware with a
slightly old Ubuntu release. Although it is the latest LTS release.
I am guessing you probably need a newer version of Mesa for this GPU. To
test that theory please try booting Ubuntu 20.04 from USB
