we have found the `modinfo` command (from the kmod package[1]) will need to be
at least with version 27 (which is available in Focal) to support reading
information from built-in modules.
To be more precise, with these commits:
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/utils/kernel/kmod/kmod.
