Hi all,
and thanks for all the help. I finally managed to build the 0.12.3 and it
seems to be indexing my file system.
In the end I simply
./configure
make
sudo make install
I am not quite sure why it worked now...
Now I would like to also build tracker-needle:
./configure

Is there any progress on this or do you need more info?
I've just pushed a fix

If using Ubuntu, you need libgtk-3-dev and it will install any deps you
need. This is on Ubuntu Natty which I am using here.

If tracker uses glib, it should depend on glib (and it's mimimum
required version).
Getting glib pulled as a side effect of using gtk is not good.
Yes, we should definitely be explicit about

Yess! after installing libgtk-3-dev
I could build needle and now it works again!
the development of tracker might be too fast to make debs, but
how about a package download script satisfying the dependencies?
thanks for your help!

OK, so i tried mlo:city Beaudesert in the query box of the Tracker Gui.

Therefore can i assume that Tracker Gui searches Metadata in images
using a completely different method from Filename searches and Document

I don't expect this to work. The properties of the MLO classes are not
full text indexed at all. You would need to add tracker:fulltextIndexed
true; for each

Hi Martyn and Team :-)
Do i understand correctly that you propose to add to Tracker,
tracker:fulltextIndexed true; for each mlo class property, as a function
that indexes the texts and stores them in a database somewhere on the
users machine and that it is this which will make the information
