I can confirm that specifying additional directories to watch - directories that are not in my home directory - via tracker-preferences is preventing these music/images from showing up in the results. If I type a command line that is the equivalent of what I've specified in tracker-preferences,

Thanks for the tip. Using gstreamer was what was required. It'd less confusing to an end user if tracker detected these missing dependencies and stuck a warning. I saw in the output of configure that video searching was enabled with xine, nothing about audio and since I was using Beagle
