extract any text it seems (see below). I did install the new poppler, but I
dont know if it needs any specific configurations when installing.

Since 0.10.1, poppler-glib 0.16 is required instead of poppler 0.14.

https://launchpad.net/~tracker-team. But this only holds 0.8 for stable
