In Firefox (and abrowser) you can disable the cache in about:config by
setting "browser.cache.disk.enable" on false
I wouldn't bother with a USB cable as data transfers might not work:

Yes it did, thanks. Do I understand that this "data" cable is DIFFIRENT from
a normal USB to mini-usb? I already have a dozen of the standard ones.
My friend has a solid state drive and he said that writing temporary files on
it is not recommended. I did not create a swap partition for him during
installation. I was wondering if other steps are needed in order for
temporary files to be written to RAM drive.
Hey arielenter,
There's also:

Gluon Project - http://gluon.gamingfreedom.org/
The source for gnurpgm is there, i've just confirmed.
I know it is blasphemy in this community, but I'm willing to accept even a
half-free solution. I think 1 hole in a Trisquel system is better than using
Windows 7 or a less free GNU/Linux distro.
Nothing shows up.
Here is this awesome piece of real life satire.
I'd like to add another sign:
9. You are convinced, that the market for proprietary software works
perfectly fine and there is no need to liberate anything. Then you turn
around and download a cracked Photoshop.

Wow, that's pretty heavy, abrowser almost never freezes on me and even if
yes, then the whole system remains normal, so I can just close it and start
it again, loading all the tabs that were open before.
I always browse with an open terminal, killall gtk-gnash lies there, ready
to save my computer from exploding (and defreezing my abrowser) :P

Getting a WLAN USB-stick would be the best option, the notebook would boot
100%, no matter what the BIOS prevents it to do. It is just a device, like a
USB mouse or a headset that you plug into the notebook at runtime.
Fortunately, connecting different USB devices is still one freedom even
The Motorola W377g phone has a mini-USB connection. The Motorola USB drivers
are on the Motorola web site. They are supported to work under Windows, they
might also work under Wine:

Don't know, maybe if you just don't make a swap partition? Why would you want
to use the RAM for temporary internet files? Just limit them to 1MB or
something, easy to do in Icecat: Preferences>Advanced>Network. Probably
exactly the same in abrowser.
Is there a simple way to use RAM drive instead of hard drive on Trisquel
(e.g. to write temporary internet files)?
The best way to set up a system, so that you can reinstall OSs as you wish is
like this:
10-12 GB partition for /
RAM/2partition for swap, personally I only make 256 MB for swap.
rest partition for /home
This way you will keep your personal data (and even the settings like desktop

You usually have to just disable the internal wireless. Can you post a link
to that internal FSF.org site. I would just like to clarify my statement
above and say both options (1) and (2) are bad options and just because one
is slightly "less bad" then the other doesn't make it good.

What problems did you have with the sound? Is it solved already?
sascha, I think your'e mixing up two different things:
1. If you open a laptop and change its internal wireless adapter the BIOS
might refuse to boot.
2. Connecting an external USB dongle does not change your hardware
configuration at all.
If you use a USB dongle the BIOS should boot fine a
You can choose this in the Preferences of the updater. Set the option for
Distribution Upgrades to all upgrades instead of LTS upgrades
Hallo, I recently installed the LTS version. Ever since my computer is
playing up. Browser windows keep freezing and the computer is heating up as
crazy. The current non LTS version however worked fine. Is there a way to
change back to the other version without loosing my data?
Thank you very much for your responses. It was not so easy (the printer was
detected and configured but the fact was it did not print). But at last I
found a solution here:

After configure CUPS manu
Dear Sir Grant
Option 3 is not an option because the hardware has a mechanism that prevents
the computer from booting if you change the wireless device. Some has been
written on that on the fsf.org website but no solution is being offered.
Option 2 - I agree! But when I tried to do that I g
