Seeing that Ubuntu is moving to LightDM with 11.10 and above, I'm assuming
that Trisquel will as well since it is lightweight and customizable. I came
across this link today about customizing the background wallpaper and I think
its good that the devs know about this for a future release beca

Sorry I'm going to have to answer my self on this one: Why can't we make our
own Hardware? Why do we have to spend so much time and effort in reverse
engineering?
Answer: Because most people don't know about their software rights, and buy
hardware from not free software friendly companies.
It is proprietary.

Well, I must admit that I am an ignorant when it comes to hardware, but I
have always thought that one way to support the free software movement is
buying hardware that can be use with free software. That for me is the
drivers and the BIOS.
It seems to me that now days is super hard to find
i highly doubt it is, but i want to know anyway. i managed to ween myself of
Chromium, so google-talkplugin is the last possiblely nonfree program i have.
Well, this application is called "theunarchiver" (
https://code.google.com/p/theunarchiver ) and not only "unarchiver" so the
change makes sense.
Thanks to both! problem fixed.
sweet... was this mentioned in the release notes? I wonder what the reason
was for name change... Thanks MB!
The package is in Trisquel 5.0 Dagda's repository but has changed its name
(thus explaining why you lost it during the update):

Just install it from the package manager.
The partition where /usr is mounted should be large enough for all the
softwares you want to install. Once they are all install, its size will not
grow. If you have access to another GNU/Linux system with about the software
you want to install, just fire 'du -hs /usr' and you will have an ide
I noticed it was deleted from my system when I upgraded to 5.0 Trisquel...

Double click in the right menu on 'button_layout'.
Use the string: close,minimize,maximize:menu
The colon after maximize should separate the left corner of the window from
the right corner.
Tried that, but tat only changes the order. i want to move them to the left
like in other distros.
I have an EeePC 1000, and it has the same 4/16 GB SSD setup. I just
partitioned it with / on the 4GB drive, and /home on the 16 GB one. It's
worked just fine for me (I've never gotten any low disk space errors), but it
probably depends on how many packages you plan on installing.
Yeah, so I make 2 partitions on the 16gbSSD part, one for /home and one for
/usr, do you recommend particular sizes? Then I just will set the 4GB drive
as the mount point for /
Thanks again, you guys here at Trisquel have those corporate goons who made
that sleazy EEE OS thoroughly whipped.

if you work more on wireless devices than you need more of PCI Compliance,
there is always some problem related to security.
You'll need to use gconf-editor. Open a terminal, and type gconf-editor.
When the window pops up, use the left pane to navigate to
/apps/metacity/general. One of the entries there should be button_layout.
You can alter its value to change the layout of window buttons.
How can I make the system title bar buttons be on the left? I'm so used to it
on other ditros, so it'd be nice to have this in Trisquel. Especially since
at school we use Ubuntu, and I of cource don't have root access.
Of course you absolutely need to have /home in the larger part of your disk.
I believe you were already doing that.

People thinking Stallman is a jerk doesn't excuse you. You are
responsible for your actions, as Stallman is for his. The reason you
seem disrespectful is because you expressed several assumption that all
people here are ignorant. You did it even in your first post, before
actually hearing anyone

Thanks, after less than one day with that EEE OS, whatever it is (xandros?) I
