What I usually do is finding an online converter and convert the *.rar file
to *.tar (that is, if the *.rar file is not password protected and is not
related to something private).
I thought v.3 rar is already backwards engineered? Does it work, if you
install unrar-free and all updates?
afaik these packages are what makes up the gnome-version of trisquel:
trisquel-desktop-common
trisquel-gnome-base
and these are what make up the mini-trisquel:
trisquel-mini
So if you want to convert from mini to the Gnome version, do: sudo aptitude
remove trisquel-mini sudo aptitude install
The unarchiver does the work for version 3.0. Look for info in the wiki,
it has been discussed before. The unarchiver can be also integrated in
nautilus thanks to Arder's script.

I noticed the message of the nautilus integration is in the spanish forum.
You can download the nautilus script from here,

(originally linked here, where it is presented:)
Try extracting the file via the terminal by typing unar ./part1.rar (first
cd to the path).

The packages Cyberhawk talks about are indeed meta-packages whose only
purposes is to define the set of applications in a default install. However I
disagree with the moves he proposes:
removing a meta-package (e.g., removing trisquel-mini) does not does not do
anything. If you really want
Well... you could have started by reading the last threads on the forum. In

Yes, but even if you're translating the files I recommend you do it better
from the web, if after have problems with the pot files. Also as you might
have appreciated many original strings are in multiple languages. It's a bit
confusing.
What you can be doing is translating the main page
Here is a list of pages with (some) untranslatable content:

It is said clearly that what is written in his personal blog represents

I'm actually very interested in what made you switch from Fedora to Trisquel.
Many people (like myself) got their feet wet in Ubuntu or an Ubuntu based
distro before making the switch.
Spring is available from a PPA: https://launchpad.net/~spring/+archive/ppa
If you're using Trisquel 5.0 then you'll want the one for Ubuntu 11.04.
Please note that not everything offered from a Launchpad PPA is necessarily
free, however, as far as I can tell this one is.
This works.
I cd'd my donwloads folder and ran unar ./*.rar and it unrar everything
