The whole point of Trisquel is to have a stable release based on Ubuntu. If your hardware requires newer packages than those offered by Trisquel (e.g. newer version of alsa and newer kernel) you can always use Parabola until the newer version of Trisquel is released.

[Trisquel-users] Partitioning scheme makes install 5.5 fail

Largely although I don't think you will get everything the final ISO has. For instance carl9170 is in the repository although not yet in the ISO. This is the firmware required for the USB wireless N cards supported by Trisquel.
