Do you have any recommendations regarding TV tuner cards?
The whole point of Trisquel is to have a stable release based on Ubuntu. If
your hardware requires newer packages than those offered by Trisquel (e.g.
newer version of alsa and newer kernel) you can always use Parabola until the
newer version of Trisquel is released.

I am testing the 5.5 i10n ISO these days and find it fails for low disk
space on /. Is there any reason for the current partitioning scheme? I
tend to favor having everything in one partition and leaving other
partition schemes to advanced users.
Largely although I don't think you will get everything the final ISO has. For
instance carl9170 is in the repository although not yet in the ISO. This is
the firmware required for the USB wireless N cards supported by Trisquel.
