So, I am looking for a nice e-reader[1] that is as free software
compatible as possible.
The Kindle is of course not an option, and I was looking at the Sony
Reader.
Any advice?

Hi,
There is also a Desktop distribution category, unfortunately Trisquel
is not there :(

I posted about that,
For removable drives and SSDs, F2FS won't see broad adoption for a little bit
and the jury is still out if Apple or Microsoft includes it in their
operating systems. I'm still gunning for that to get wide support and we
shall see if Samsung can pull it off.
Another format for removable
I found this blog post very interesting. It highlights some security concerns
in TrueCrypt.
Perhaps someone should contact a) the FSF, asking them to review the license,
and/or b) the TrueCrypt Foundation, asking them to allow charging for
distribution so that the TrueCrypt License will be
Perhaps you should try a KISS-guided distro, like Parabola or Dragora, both

:) I guess you didn't read my lengthy post (heck- I wouldn't have either it
was so long). The current maintainers of the code don't own the copyright.
They can't change the license. They have tried to do this in the past and had
to revert back because they don't own the copyright on the core
True. Although I'm not sure it would pass FSF still either.
Muon brings in KDE dependencies which I do not need. The Mint Software Center
is straight up Python and made to work with GTK and Gnome.
I say customize it and make pretty for Trisquel 6 or fork it if it gets to
that point. Its just waiting there for the taking and is free software:
A poster attempted to convey misleading information about the Trisquel
project on that website. My response on the matter:

I am wondering if it worth installing.
If you have need to access exFAT formatted drives, then I'd say yes.
I do think it's reasonable that TrueCrypt should be developed anonymously.
Suppose a government intelligence agency needs to access a
TrueCrypt-encrypted file or operating system as a matter of national security

I can't imagine a GNU webmaster playing Call of Duty. ;-)
Yea- I don't have a problem with the software being developed by anonymous
authors provided there is a system to make sure the public can easily audit
code. As it is they don't have a public CVS where outside developers can keep
an eye on the code without significant work. Other projects
I'm confused as to why people are describing Apache and BSD licenses as
permissive. Really think about what that's supposed to describe. I think
the word permissive is the wrong word to use. It gives the wrong idea of
what the license is for. The GPL is far more permissive than those
I think that there are a lot of reasons for games to be free software. It
could speed up development of new titles for one. It could allow gamers that
bought a game that didn't live up to expectations to modify it and make it
better so that they could make it enjoyable. Sometimes there are
Half-Life was amazing until I realized that shooting doing harm does not
bring me ethical joy.
I think you're confusing fiction with reality.
I totally agree with you on these ideas Chris. I do wonder why the flash
things hasn't been resolved considering that it is a high-priority fsf
project...
Rather than writing a flash compatible solution why doesn't someone design
and write a replacement that has all of the features that
The Apache and BSD licenses are said permissive because they let you
sublicense the software. On the contrary redistributions of GPL software
(modified or not) must retain the same license. This is called copyleft.
I understand the differences but I don't think that makes it permissive.
Using permissive to describe a license that lets people restrict your
freedom by releasing a non-free version of a program is a bit misleading I
think. I think it would be better to call it a non-copyleft free software
That already exists: it's called Javascript. With the HTML 5 specification,
most important things Flash was historically used for can be done in
Javascript. The problem is Flash's long historical use means it will probably
still be common for a while, and if a website depends on Flash, you
Trisquel may not be ready for family friends although GNU/Linux (with some
