You can install Trisquel 6.0 in this computer. The big problem in my opinion is Abrowser (since version 4 from 2011). It's memory hungry. Trisquel 6.0 32-bit boot with GNOME Fallback 3.4 with 130~150MB of RAM. 64-bit boot with 250MB. The old computer I had was Celeron, worst than your CPU.

I asked for slaine because anything newer tan that uses Compiz 0.9 (and the one present in April 2011 was pretty awful, I think), and anyhting newer than that uses GTK+3. Anything older than saline (i.e. Taranis) hadn't made use of Gallium3D yet. The I guess I won't mind abandoning my idea
