With a live cd, mount your / partition and edit ./boot/grub/grub.cfg to
remove the '--unrestricted' parameters. Then you should be able to reboot and

During the recent grub updates on Trisquel 6 the installer asked if I wanted
to change some config file as my differed from what was in the package and I
asked to see the diff, however that was never shown. The next time I rebooted
I was shown the grub menu unlike before.

Once my LiveCD loaded, I used these commands:
sudo mount /dev/sda5 /mnt[my / partition is on sda5, yours may

and i use find and replace to delete all the instaces of "--unrestricted".

It takes quite a long time. The stream of threads locked due to age on the
English forum seems to start at page 30. These are posts from about half a
year ago -- consistent with what you can see on the German forum.

Trisquel netinstall + icewm is a very good option, moreover, the complex
structure of a Debian package allow to install the software you need while it
reduces the memory comsumption.
KolibriOS is currently entirely consisting of libre software, though only
because of circumstance.[1] So that's something you could use. Just make sure
to watch out for any changes in this circumstance.

From taking a glance at its page, MikeOS seems like a only for fun project
rather that a practical operating system. It seems like everything is
developed from scratch, so I guess that it's fully free but you should do
your own research. Since it's small, you can check the files to evaluate

I have done it and it was a success. However I had a lot of help from
#libreboot - and a lot of patience to get wait for help during the confusing

Glad to see gNewSense is making headway. I loved 2.3 and had the devil of a
time switching to Trisquel.
In retrospect though, I'm certainly glad I did!
If you can translate to German, it will be good for all German-speaking
people who want to learn how to use Trisquel, and who want to discuss in the
German-speaking section of the forum.
gNewsense is alive and well.
Currently in beta phase for gNewsense 4.0 Ucclia, tracking Debian Wheezy.
Work will begin soon on the next version based on Debian Jessie.
There should be more love for gNewsense and Trisquel, especially between the
two communities. They are more like siblings
