Theoretically, depending on job itself, the software and hardware at both

Unsatisfied with science? Don't worry, you can fork your own. Up for votes

Some existing journals already are complete bullshit. The situation has been
getting even worse since the Sokal affair: even computer-generated articles
have been accepted! Homeopathists have journals too...
I fail to see that it is Galileo Galilei vs. the Catholic Church. Become a
scientist, do the steps and present your findings. It's pretty easy. It's
only because their papers have bee trashed so many times they are trying to
find a backdoor.
I can't imagine how you could possibly regulate this. The scientific
community is not a single entity, and it doesn't have a single central
authority. Specific scientific peer-reviewed journals are a sort of
authority, and tricking someone into thinking that a paper was published in a

> a sceptical approach treats all claims as equal
No, it doesn't. A skeptical approach treats the null hypothesis as true until
sufficient evidence proves otherwise. It has nothing to do with "sides" or
"equal weight".
AMC really is not made for that: it is a fantastic LaTeX package to create
the questionnaire (although there is another simpler format as well) and a
Perl script with a GUI to automatically correct the (scanned) tests and grade
the students.

Censorship is not what I'm after. They can yell all they want but claiming to

Sounds good. Do you know if there are any Drupal modules for integrating its
functionality into a website? If not, would this be hard to do?
Which rather begs the question, why is the ownCloud client still in the
repos? It was removed, then put back again. Would it be possible to get a
usable client into the Trisquel repos so we don't have to install PPAs to use
ownCloud?
There's no "middle path" in science.
There either is a consensus or there's not. That's pseudo-science you're
talking about. Layman's thoughts. What you're propagating or hiding behind is
called "false balance".

"Propaganda" used to be a valid word for disseminating information. Now, it's
a slur and an all too easy way to dismiss valid science. I'm beginning to

Surgeon David Gorski who blogs as 'Orac' on ScienceBlogs is hardly a neutral

Did you actually research the Snap packaging format or are you just being
stubborn for the sake of being stubborn?
NO.
Since Ubuntu 16.04 introduces the new Snap packaging format and Trisquel 8
will be based off of it, has the Trisquel team thought about embracing it for
custom Trisquel applications? I know it has its benefits of being a sandboxed
application with dependencies included and can ensure more fre

I do not think there really are differences in the dictionaries: the same
words are in there. The programs, to actually spell-check, are different.
What is the difference between Hunspell, Myspell and Aspell dictionaries? Do
any have better/worse language support?
Doing the same up to (and including) the 'chroot', Lorenz can then try to

Yep you're right! I used the network installer to install from the USB drive.
Thanks, I'll try another image!
Did you try to install Trisquel using the network installer? I had real
trouble with that, too. I found the installer seems to think the drive that
the USB is on is the target drive without exception. Try a CD.
Back when the SSD was still in the laptop, I installed Trisquel from the CD
onto the SSD (the SSD was the only hard drive build in).
Then I started the installed Trisquel from that SSD → the mythic signs

Some explanations:
When you type a word in a terminal, the shell (i.e., the command-line
interpreter) searches for a program that bears this name and execute it. It
searches in directories that are listed in a shell variable named PATH. On my
system:
$ echo $PATH
/home/banana/Travail/bin:/
What is revealing here is that your laptop works with Trisquel when using the
Live CD! In thinking methodically about what the difference is, I see it as
follows:
1.) It is the difference in media, which you are examining now. I agree that
it is probably not the answer.
2.) The content
"I also plugged the SSD into another pc of mine, there everything worked as
it should."
When you say that everything worked, do you mean that you could run your

the SSD drive?

I am pretty sure LibreOffice can use the Hunspell dictionaries too.
Yeah it's like loldier said, I've exchanged the internal 500GB HDD with a new

thought the same thing and plugged the 500GB HDD back in and installed
Trisquel on it, but same thing here.
I also plugged the SSD into another

Another alternative would be to install on a USB hard drive. I've done that
with Trisquel (as well as on my desktop and laptop). If the OP has a usb HD

doesn't have a thumb drive, you can buy one for less than $10
The video shows it's possible to open that can of worms. It's not something
one would like to rinse and repeat but it's doable provided that the plastic

Also, I'd forgotten about replacing a hd in a laptop. Even though I did it
to a thinkpad back in 2004 along with changing the RAM. Aside from the
internal changes, I remember I added an external sound card and a bunch of
other stuff. In the end I would have been better off buying a new lap
Does that mean he can put back the original and try installing on it?
Well, naturally.
Here's a video.

Then my recommendation was that he try that.
I think the OP pried off the bottom cover and replaced the original HDD with
a new SSD. Unlike many Macs, some new laptops are user-repairable.

When you say, "I've switched the HDD to a new SSD"
What do you mean exactly? This is a laptop correct? So is the SSD running
off USB? What happens if you use the original HDD for the installation?
Indeed.

Because "$HOME/bin" is not a normal directory to have. The user in that topic
